Progression Week 2019

A number of activities took place in June 2019, with different groups of level 3 students progressing into their final year of college. Sessions included undergraduate taster sessions at universities and guest speakers delivering advice on UCAS, writing personal statements, student finance, money and budgeting, apprenticeships and employment... even some alumni joined us to talk about their experiences too!

Below are links to the presentations, for you to refer to over the summer break, to refresh your memory of the activities and to help you continue your research.

Your Task For Summer Break - making informed decisions, developing applications

​

1. Log into your Unifrog account at https://www.unifrog.org/sign-in

If you have forgotten your password, use the 'Forgotten password' function on the above link. If you have NEVER registered, please email careers@westking.ac.uk as you will need a 'Form code' in order to register. You need to enter this code and your details on this sign up page: https://www.unifrog.org/code

2. Use the UK University tool. 
Make a new shortlist of university options that you would consider applying for in the autumn.

 

3. Use the Apprenticeships tool.
Make a new shortlist of apprenticeship options that you could apply for.
Do this either as well as applying to university, or instead of. Even if you haven't considered apprenticeships before, make this shortlist to ensure you have made an informed decision to not take this route.

When you log into your Unifrog account you will need to scroll to the square tiles that say: 'UK University' (red tile) and 'Apprenticeship' (pink tile) to access these tools.

​

4. Pesonal Statement tool, Careers Library too, CV tool

Make use of all the other tools available as relevant. Start drafting your UCAS Personal Statement using the helpful builder, and explore the Careers Library if you want to find out about careers in order to pick a good apprenticeship/university route.

Sarah Elizabeth-Taylor from Havas and Isadora from Ecselis met with BTEC Business students. Sarah delivered  a session on creating LinkedIn profiles and the Havas media group. Isadora lead a presentation about Performance Marketing & her experience of being a junior within SEO.
